Welcome
St. Luke, who wrote the Book of Acts, provides us with such encouragement in Chapter 2 of that Book, when he describes the attitude of unity and fellowship that pervaded the early church.
Here’s what Luke wrote, starting with the 42nd verse of Acts 2:
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking bread, and in prayer. And fear [of God] came upon every soul; and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles…
“And they continued daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.
“Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? Church ought to be a place that feels like home, where everyone shares the vision and nobody ever feels out of place. I’m proud to say that this is the spirit that pervades the First Baptist Church of Andover, which it has been my pleasure to serve for the past three or so years.
This is a church where everybody works together for the good of sharing the Gospel. Where we still sing the traditional hymns of the faith; rejoice in the fellowhsip of a game day or ample potluck; and where the midweek ritual of prayer and Bible study is not neglected.
Truly on Sunday mornings I’d be nowhere else, and the same thing is true on the other days the church meets for ministry. You can read more about our church and its ministries on these pages, and we encourage you to do so, and by all means consider visiting us some Sunday morning. You will be treated like family and, I sincerely believe, have an experience of God as well. The doors are always open for you at FBC Andover!
